Director Wolfgang M. Hickel, born 1949 in Vienna, earned his Mag. rer.nat. in 1975 from the University of Vienna.
In that same year he began his professional career at the HTBLVA’s Textile Industry and Data Processing Departments in Vienna, and has served as the school’s director since 1997. HTBLVA is Austria’s most experienced IT training center, with 1,700 students and 200 professors. Making up its four departments are:
Advanced Program for Data Processing and Organization
Day-School and Lecture Program
Advanced Computer Science Night School for Working Students
Advanced Program for Business Administration
Advanced Program for Art and Design.
Director Hickel was a long-term member of the Disiplinary Commission for Vocational Training at the Federal Ministry for Education, Science, and Culture and in the Central Commitee for Vocational Training Teachers. Sixteen years were spent as Chairman of the Departmental Commitee, in addition to membership of the Federation of Austrian Industry’s working group for IT training. He also represented the Federation at the Alpbach Forum’s conference on Lifelong Learning.
